Today I visited a preschool to talk about library stuff, give out library cards, and do a storytime. You know, the usual. Before we read the books I brought (Dinosaur vs. The Library, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, and Not a Box), I talked with the kids about why it's important to take care of library books and some tips on how to do that.
The kids came to some interesting conclusions.
List of things you should not DO to library books:
- break them
- lose them
- cut them with scissors
- drop them into the bathtub
- rip all the pages out
- let a baby draw on them
- let a baby drool on them (I think someone in class had a new baby sibling.)
List of things that you should not put INTO library books:
- mud (Thank you, Pete the Cat.)
Good job, kiddos. You're getting it.
